So you have done the hard graft and completed a BFS programme and thinking “now what?”
Well, it is simple; get a mentor!
Our mentors will guide you through the next stages of your career by helping you to develop your skills, hone your pitch decks or write that all important cover letter for your dream job.
It is a straightforward process:
We do all the hard work – Fill in this simple form to register your interest. We will go through your answers and match you with an industry mentor that is right for you.
A little bit of training – before we set you up with a mentor we will provide some basic induction training. This will help you understand your responsibilities as a mentee, what kind of topics you might want to cover in your sessions and the timeline for your mentoring experience.
It’s a match – After we match you we will introduce you to your mentor over email.
Start the conversation – once you have been introduced to your mentor by BFS, it is time for you to reach out and say hello. Remember first impressions count so the more you put in at this stage (and throughout the process), the more you will get out of the experience. For your introduction, consider including a bit about you, your career goals, and topics you’d like to cover with your mentor.
Meet Your Mentor – this bit is easy. Send out the invites, remember when you are meeting and go forth and conquer the (mentoring) world.
To get accepted into our mentoring programme, you need to be enrolled or have completed one of a Brixton Finishing School programme. This could be The ADcademy, ADcademy Live, Summer School or ADventure.
We focus on supporting all young people who have taken part in our programmes, with a keen focus on socioeconomic diversity, hence the registration questions.
And that is it. Once you are registered we will get to work finding you a great mentor!
